Thank God for Cree School Board

I read the article about about the woman that complains about the CSB funding. I am a single person living in a city and studying and I am just grateful for what I get from CSB. I have alot of non native friends who are on loans and bursaries and have to hold 2 jobs while studying in college/university.They get out of school and they are in total debt and it usually takes them a few years to pay the governement back, some people work many years to pay that money back. I have great admiration for people who don't have the privileges as we do as Cree People, these people who give anything to have the financial help we get from CSB most of the time they are shocked knowing the amount of help we get, they usually say to me "I wish I was native". I think we take alot for granted and we should just give thanks even though whatever we get seems small to us. Imagine if the CSB gave you 2000$ and said to you "you have to live with this amount for a whole semester" most of us would quit and there are many students who have this kind of financial situation and they find ways to manage and the next thing you know...they become lawyers, doctors, directors, ...it suprises me how people can complain about the CSB, you have no idea how lucky you are to be in the situation that you are in. And also, you don't have to pay anything back to the CSB when you get out school. I think maybe the CSB needs to be more strict in order for us to be grateful, maybe if we did have to pay back, we wouldn't complain so much or we would try harder to stay in school. I'm not criticizing what this woman is saying, she probably doesn't realize the chance that she has that most people don't, there is always a way to everything. I also understand that most people do have personal problems, we all do, but there is great amount of help and support that is offered to us and most of don't take that, life is not suppose to be easy. You have to make your way through it the best you can, it requires work and determination. It's only up to us, when you think about it...it all depends on us!! I know life is not easy, but the CSB is doing more than enough and we just have to do our part which staying in school. Of course there are many Cree students that graduated in their field and i think that is very wonderful. Congratulations to all the graduates!!
