| Grateful, or too grateful As a past student and beneficiary of the Cree School Board, I found that the amounts of funds that were given were very pleasing. I completed 4 years and received my degree. I was very pleased for the amounts that I was receiving, until my third year when I discovered that I did not receive enough for my cost of living. I thought it was very cheap of the school board until after I graduated and started working for 14$/hour with my B.A. I have now found a reasonable position with a good salary, but for that first year after graduating, I felt miserable. Maybe it was the fact that I wanted to return to school, since they pay you more. Even when I was in school I felt the same. I guess it was me being spoiled. I knew after I had to start earning my own income, that the choices and decisions I made for my lifestyle had to change. It was different when I was attending school and receiving the amounts of monies that I did, I realized that it had spoiled me, and I had to re-learn how to feel good about the income I earned, and that I worked hard for it. I often hear people complain that as beneficiaries, students don't receive enough to offset their living costs. As I read through this article, I was glad to hear that gratefulness is being praised. But I'm also grateful that our right to an education is fully supported by our communities, and leadership. Maybe in the future, people can really appreciate the services, not take advantage and just enjoy it, while they're still there. Anon
